MTDC extends partnership with Industry 4.0 partners

07/11/2018 02:21 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) is expanding its network and resources with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with five Industry 4.0 related partners.

Chief Executive Officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus said the five agencies were in addition to another group called Myedtech Community which MTDC signed with earlier, and would be the corporation’s key partners towards its Industry 4.0 initiatives.

“MTDC, with the assistance from the partners, will play a role to synergise the interactions between companies, particularly the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporations, wishing to acquire Industry 4.0 solutions,” he told reporters after the soft launch of its Industry 4.0 hub, Centre of 9 Pillars (Co9P), near here today.

The five partners are Malaysian Robotics and Automation Society, Malaysia lnternet-of-Things Association, RESPECT Business and Advanced Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Research Triangle Institute, and Human Life Advancement Foundation.

Norhalim said Co9P, built on a community-based concept, would be a dedicated centre for Industry 4.0, complete with Maker labs and co-working space, allowing the SMEs to seek local Industry 4.0 solutions for their existing processes.

He said the centre was equipped with the required tools to enable development of proof-of-concept and prototypes at the fraction of the cost of imported solutions.

“This centre will house Industry 4.0 partners and relevant ecosystem companies and facilitate networks with other business professionals, researchers, academicians and industry experts to collaboratively develop local Industry 4.0 ecosystem.

“The centre will thus also enable us to assist in identifying local talent and in the creation and development of Industry 4.0 technopreneurs,” he added.

In addition to providing solutions, MTDC’s partners would also work with the MTDC Technopreneur Training Academy to utilise the Co9P facilities to provide Industry 4.0 upskilling and training for the industry and academia, he said.
