Johor planning to reintroduce black pepper cultivation

KLUANG, June 22 (Bernama) – Johor Islamic Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development Committee chairman, Tosrin Jarvanthi, said the local government is planning to reintroduce the planting of black pepper – once famous in the state – and it may be done on FELDA, FELCRA and RISDA land.

“I’ll be visiting the Malaysian Pepper Board in Sarawak to check out the technology that is being used,” he said, adding that perhaps it could help farmers earn more money.....

JOHOR BAHRU, June 22 (Bernama) -- Three schools and two kindergartens in Pasir Gudang here will be closed for two days, starting tomorrow, to enable the authorities to further monitor why 15 students suffered breathing difficulties believed to be caused by air pollution in the area on Thursday.
