MELAKA, Oct 26 -- Zainal Abidin Hassan's tenure as Melaka United head coach will continue into the next season, Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA) president Adly Zahari confirmed today.
Adly, who is Melaka chief minister, said despite not winning any honours this season, former national footballer Zainal Abidin, 58, is seen as vastly experienced in the game and still relevant in Melaka United's plans to improve their standings next season.
“We started off well, but a series of injuries hampered our performances in the second half of the season.
“We are retaining his (Zainal Abidin) services to allow him to plan for the season ahead besides sourcing for new potential signings,” he told reporters after launching the Melaka Peduli Rakyat bazaar in Bukit Baru here today.
Adly said Melaka United will make early preparations this time around to get the best possible line up, including the possibility of incorporating several young players into the squad.
“Besides looking at our overall budget, we will look at players’ potential and Zainal will be deciding on this,” he added.
