Melaka To Monitor Garbage Clogged-up Drainage Issue -chief Minister

MELAKA, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The Melaka state government will monitor the littering problem which is causing the drainage system to be clogged up, with various negative impacts, including to the state's image as a tourism destination.

Chief Minister Adly Zahari said his department had received complaints about clogged drains and ditches; disruption to the water supply systems and flash floods in some areas in the state due to irresponsible waste disposal.....

Improper disposal of waste main enemy of Melaka drainage system

I am in discussions with the local authorities and Public Work Department to increase the frequency of drain cleaning in order to prevent flash floods. At the same time, I urge the public to stop dumping their waste at their whim and fancy and to play their roles to keep their areas clean.
