2,296 cases of children requiring care, protection in Sabah

BELURAN, Oct 18 (Bernama) – A total of 2,296 cases involving children in need of care and protection which were recorded in the state were handled by the Department of Public Welfare Services (JPKA) from 2010 to July.

State People’s Health and Well-being Minister Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt said these encompassed neglect (984 cases), sexual abuse (908 cases), physical abuse (363 cases), baby dumping (35 cases) and emotional abuse (six cases) categories

Under moral service, he said that were 5,493 cases involving 5,058 cases under the criminal category and 435 cases, non-controllable.....
