Timber logs, machinery worth over RM1.4 milion seized in Poi

SIBU, April 10 (Bernama) -- The 10th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) here proved their mettle in combating illegal logging, when logs and machinery worth of RM1,426,500 were seized in connection with the illegal activity in Poi, Kanowit on Monday. 

A team of eight led by Inspector Mohd Salman Zulfitri Sheekandar together with 12 enforcement officers from the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Sibu Division headed by Mohd Norazlan Jamil, conducted a raid at 12 pm at a timber pool in Ulu Sungai Uka, 27 kilometres south of Kanowit town.

A 50-year-old local man and a 39-year-old Indonesian who had no work permit were detained in the raid.....

Sabah, Sarawak miss opportunity to restore status as equal partners


KOTA KINABALU, April 10 (Bernama) -- Sabah and Sarawak missed the opportunity to restore the status of both states as equal partners with the Peninsular as stated in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63) after the proposed amendment to Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution was rejected at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
