Cannon, mortar over 200 years old found at Fort Cornwallis

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 27 (Bernama) – A cannon and mortar were found during excavation work in the outer defence structure surrounding Fort Cornwallis, thus completing historical data of the old fort.

Professor Datuk Dr Mokhtar Saidin, director of the Centre for Global Archeological Research at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), said the excavation work at the site conducted by 12 researchers last Friday, had found one cannon and a mortar that were both over 200 years old.....
