PFAM claims baseless, and we want an apology - police team manager

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Police team manager Datuk Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Shahar has come out to deny the claims made by Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) that the team management had failed to settle salary arrears owed to its players.

Kamarul Ariffin expressed shock over the matter for the fact that PFAM chief executive officer Izham Ismail, who named Police as one of the many teams who have not settled players salaries totalling RM6.4 million, was present at a hand over ceremony for the monies owed to 12 of its players last February.

He is now demanding an apology from PFAM, saying that the allegations had damaged the team's reputation, especially after having worked hard to ensure debt inherited by the previous management had been cleared.

“Police are not linked at all with what PFAM is claiming. We are shocked as he (Izham) was present at the (handover of monies owed) ceremony and had even given us a letter of appreciation for settling the arrears.

“I have the receipts for the payments as proof and I am surprised as to why this issue has surfaced today, so I am asking PFAM to clarify their statement once again and if needed, apologise to us,” he said in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) today.....
