Kelantan remain in Premier League

Last Update: 05/11/2019

KOTA BHARU, Nov 5 -- The Red Warriors (TRW) will stay in the Premier League next season after obtaining the club licence from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL).

Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) secretary-general Husin Deraman said the association's management can now breathe a sigh of relief as the issue of club licence had been a concern.

"FAM and MFL have made a professional judgment in this regard and understand the situation faced by KAFA," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Previously, the TRW team faced club licence suspension as KAFA had to resolve several issues including players’ salary arrears and also arrears with government agencies such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Inland Revenue Board.

FAM, in a statement yesterday, noted that the FAM Club Licensing FIB meeting had agreed to grant conditional licences to the Kelantan and Sarawak teams.

It noted that both teams have submitted supporting documents showing guarantees for all outstanding matters and they would be monitored to ensure that all the guarantees are met and if anything falls short, their national licences can be revoked.
