Op Gegar: Immigrations nab 12 women including one Laotian

ALOR SETAR, Aug 20 -- The Kedah Immigration Department arrested Thai (11) and Laotian (one) women illegals in Op Gegar at an entertainment centre in Alor Setar yesterday.

Its director Zuhair Jamaludin said that he had conducted inspections on 34 foreigners of various nationalities during the operation from 2 am to 3.30 am.

"Out of the total, 11 Thai women and a Laotian woman, aged 22 to 39, were arrested while witness summonses were issued against two Malaysians to assist in investigation," he said in a statement here today.

He said that all of them were detained under Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating the conditions of the visit pass.

Zuhair said all of them were placed in his office lock-up at the Ministry of Interior building here for investigation before being sent to the Belantik Immigration Detention Centre in Sik.
