UMS-Huawei pact offers specialised ICT courses

KOTA KINABALU, July 11 (Bernama) - Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bnd have collaborated to offer mainly specialised courses in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
In ensuring the smooth running of the courses, UMS vice-chancellor, Prof Dr D Kamarudin D Mudin said that the Huawei Authorised Information Network Academy (HAINA) had been set at its campus here.
"Through HAINA, Huawei will recognise the varsity as the company’s training and certification centre,” he added.
Kamarudin said that there were 107 students in three batches who had completed their courses earning professional recognition from the Huawei Certified Network Academy (HCNA) and as Huawei certified ICT asssociates (HCIA).
The training had also seen UMS staff being accredited and recognised as instructors, he added in a statement here today.
He said the course estimated at about RM15,000 for each student, was currently free for UMS students.
He said Huawei would also be the technical adviser for the university in realising its needs for the fourth industrial revolution (IR4.0).
