Hajris Group to invest RM5 mln to open three restaurants

Last Update: 29/04/2019

GEORGE TOWN, April 29 (Bernama) -- Hajris Holdings Sdn Bhd, the operator of the Q Bistro chain of restaurants, plans to invest RM5 million this year to add another three outlets following the launch of its first outlet in Penang located along Gurney Drive.

Chief executive officer (CEO) Riyasudin Mohamed Dulkif said the opening of the three new outlets this year was in the line with the company’s expansion plan to strengthen the chain’s position in the food and beverages (F&B) segment.

He said currently, Hajris operates 14 Q Bistro outlets and the Penang outlet was the first outside the Klang Valley.

“We have identified Shah Alam, Cheras and Putrajaya as strategic locations for us to add the three additional outlets as we see increasing demand,” he told reporters here today.

Earlier, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng launched the first Q Bistro outlet located at Gurney Drive here today.

Riyasudin said the group recently secured approval from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs to franchise the restaurant chain.

He said the business model for the franchise would require investments from RM350,000 to RM1.7 million, depending on the size of the outlet.

The CEO said out of the three additional outlets planned for this year, one would be franchised out, located at Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, while the rest would be owned by Hajris.

“Apart from franchising the business, the group also plans to expand the brand overseas as it is currently exploring opportunities in the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, Riyasudin said the group invested about RM1 million to set up its Penang branch, which has a space of 6,000 square feet inside a double-storey building.

“This (Gurney Drive) is a strategic location to have our outlet as it is a tourism hotspot and we will also gain from a lovely seaview and have ample parking space,” he said.

Riyasudin said the outlet employs 30 workers and operates from 7 am until 12 am daily.

“The outlet will offer a 10 per cent discount on all items in the menu until May 5 as an opening promotion,” he added.
