Last Update: 23/04/2019

SEREMBAN, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS) today disclosed that 149 of the 150 ‘nasi kandar’ food outlets in the state do not have halal certificates.

Its director Mohd Zaidi Ramli said the only nasi kandar premises which had been awarded halal certification is located in Seremban.

"Another outlet has applied for halal certification and is still awaiting for approval,” he told reporters after a ‘Halal Cakna’ programme here today which was also attended by state mufti Datuk Mohd Yusof Ahmad.

In the meantime, he advised owners of food outlets including those serving Malay dishes to submit their applications so that Muslims would have no doubts on the food served.

In the past three months JHEAINS received five complaints regarding doubts on halal certificates being displayed at certain premises.

"In collaboration with other government agencies we will ensure that the food outlets in the state obtain a halal certificate," he added.
