Last Update: 12/04/2019

TAWAU, April 12 (Bernama) -- The people whose houses in Tawau Lama, Jalan Pantai here were destroyed by a fire on Monday hoped that the state government would help rebuild their houses at the same site.

Single mother, Nurhayati Baharudin, 42, said after the incident, she and her three children had no place to go.

"The house was my late husband’s house, he died five years ago. I do not know what to do now, we hope the government will help us," she told reporters when met after receiving aid from Apas assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan here today.

For Yeni Raman, 45, a mother of four, she and her husband had to rent a house for now.

“We have no other option but to rent a house," she said.

Four houses were gutted in the 9.30 am fire.
