KPRJ looking at business diversification

Last Update: 20/02/2019

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ) Sdn Bhd is looking to diversify its business ventures in the face of the challenging global economy.

Chief executive officer Mohd Noorazam Osman said the group is currently focusing on its core business, namely construction and housing development.

He said it was timely to study and review the group’s business plans, given the current global economic situation.

“We are working to create a 10-year plan, to be known as KPRJ Strategic Plan, which will take into account current business opportunities, especially in Johor. The plan is expected to be ready by June this year,” he told reporters after attending the Chinese New Year luncheon here today.

He added that the company would also be exploring opportunities in the digital technology market and sports sector which could be expanded, especially in the southern region.

Meanwhile, Mohd Noorazam said to-date, all of the group’s subsidiaries were profitable.

“Last year, KPRJ recorded a pre-tax profit of about RM26 million and we aim to increase it to RM34 million in the financial year ending Dec 31, 2019,” he said.

He said the group currently has a landbank of 1,214.05 hectares throughout the state.
