Search for missing boy, 7, feared drowned in Beluran

BELURAN, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- A missing seven-year-old boy was feared drowned in Sungai Kampung Muanad 3 here today.

According to a statement from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) here tonight, a report on the missing boy, Amanual Darius, was lodged at 4.56 pm by his father at the Beluran Fire and Rescue Station.

“The child was believed to have disappeared while playing with his friends on the banks of the river around 4.30 pm.

“A fire-engine and a team of firefighters were dispatched to the scene which was 10 kilometres from the Beluran Fire and Rescue Station,” the statement said. 

The search operation was being carried out aided by the villagers, but until tonight there was no sign of the boy.

The Sandakan Zone Water Rescue Team has also been directed to provide assistance in finding and rescuing the victim.
