24 villages in Sabah selected for adoption programme

KOTA KINABALU, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 24 villages in four districts in Sabah namely Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tuaran and Papar were selected as the pioneer of the Sabah Police Contingent “Kampung Angkat” (adoption) programme in the fight against crime and drug abuse.

Sabah Police commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah said the programme was also aimed at further strengthening the cooperation between police and villagers.

 ??????"Sabah is the first state to implement the programme and it was recommended by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal in the recent (state security committee) meeting.

"Through this programme, a senior police officer will act as a liaison officer to monitor and prepare report on a weekly basis besides carrying out crime prevention programme," he told reporters here today.

Omar said the number of villages would be increased from time to time.
