HDU drone academy offers drone license for Sarawakians

Last Update: 14/02/2019

KUCHING, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Sarawak-based HDU Drone Academy aims to train 800 drone pilots in government agencies across the state  and get them licensed for their work.

Its flight examiner, Alasdair Garrick said it was important to own drone licences certified by the authorities as an illegal flight could land an individual or corporates on the wrong side of the law.

“The demand for professional drone operators under the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is high in all sectors and thus it is imperative to ensure all pilots are insured to limit the financial liabilities of the government against accidents during work,” he said at a media conference here today.

HDU is the only drone academy in Sarawak that provides training for commercial Autonomous Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Unmanned Autonomous Systems (UAS) for pilots as well as operators and is accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
