Senior citizen charged with stealing, illegal firearm possession

KUALA PILAH, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- A senior citizen claimed trial in the Kuala Pilah Magistrate's Court here today to three counts of stealing and illegal possession of a firearm as well as ammunitions.

The accused Sulaiman Abdul Rahman, 63, entered the plea after the charges were read out to him before Magistrate Nariman Badruddin.

On the first count  Sulaiman was charged with illegal possession of a  38 SPL 3” Smith & Wesson revolver at Jalan Sidang Mohd Nor Kampung Sungai Pinang, Pulau Indah, Klang on Jan 27 at 11.40am.

On the second count he was charged with illegal possession of seven Winchester .38 Special bullets, one .38 SPL bullet and one .38 SME bullet at the same location, date and time.

On the third count he was charged with stealing a .38 SPL Smith & Wesson revolver and 30 bullets from the Kuala Pilah Police Station on Jan 27, 2007 at about 10pm.

The court set March 12 for mention.
