Climbers stranded on Gunung Batu Putih are safe

TAPAH, Jan 21 (Bernama) — Sixteen climbers who were stranded on Gunung Batu Putih at the 7th Mile, Kuala Woh here after one of them had a foot fracture, were found safe this afternoon.

The victim identified as Intan Baizura Ramli, 38, from Rawang, Selangor, was believed to have fractured her left foot and was taken to Tapah Hospital in a helicopter to seek further treatment.

Tapah OCPD, Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said all the climbers were members of the climbers club, Bumi Hijau Hiking Club from Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.

He said police received information on the incident at about 4 pm today before embarking on a search and rescue operation in the area.

“Following the operation, we found all the climbers in a safe condition except for one of them who was injured in the leg and had been taken to hospital for further treatment.

“All the other 15 of her friends are walking down to Kuala Woh from the mountain and are expected to arrive at 1 am,” he said when contacted here today.
