47 premises in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan receive Blue Ribbon campaign awards

Last Update: 19/01/2019

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 19  (Bernama) -- Forty-seven premises in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan have been awarded recognition as smoke-free premises through the Blue Ribbon campaign, implemented since 2013 by the Malaysian Health Promotion Board (MySihat).

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said the nine premises that received the award were eateries and the rest were under the hotel, guest house and homestay category.

“The acceptance of this award shows a clear commitment that the implementation of the smoking ban does not affect their business but has attracted more customers instead,” he said when presenting the award in a ceremony here last night.

He hoped that all recipients of the award would continue to retain all the commitments and initiatives as well as be able to attract more individuals, institutions, organisations and communities to work together to protect the public from the dangers of cigarette smoke.
