Sabah youth need to pay attention to development agendas - Mohd Shafie

Last Update: 19/01/2019

TAWAU, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Youth in Sabah need to pay attention to policies and development agendas that the government plans for the common good, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said the attitude of being just observers is simply not good for the youth themselves and was also detrimental to the state.

“Many of today's youths do not realise that without their active participation in democratic practices, it will not only make the country's administration sluggish but can have a detrimental impact on their own future if the policies implemented are not achieved.

“That's why we in Sabah, always advise that whatever policies and initiatives we introduce must involve the youth or provide ample opportunities for youths to engage in any field and platform,” he said.

Shafie said this in his speech read out by Kalabakan member of parliament, Ma'mun Sulaiman in conjunction with the closing of Kampung Iban Kuala Nansang education outreach programme near here today.

The programme, which began on Jan 12, was attended by 25 students from the International Islamic University and during that period various activities were held including tuition programmes, telematch, religious activities and gotong royong.
