MELAKA, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The Melaka United players are starting to exhibit their compatibility with each other after undergoing three pre-season friendlies through a neater and more orderly playing pattern to form a strong team for the Super League next month.
Its chief coach, Zainal Abidin Hassan said understanding in the team was much needed other than the combination of players in their respective positions showing improvements including the front which was beginning to get their rhythm to create opportunity and finishing in front of the goalpost.
The 58-year-old coach was also satisfied with the performance of the import on trial from Brazil, Anselmo Casagrande who gave a very good performance at the friendly against Singapore team, Warrior FC last night, despite only having arrived here on Friday.
‘’His combination with another import player, Luka Milunovic showed compatibility despite only being paired up in training only several days ago and we hope the combination will become better in the actual matches in the league.
‘’Overall, we can see the game of the players are more orderly but undeniably there are several matters which must be rectified and whatever things that are already okay must be improved further and maintained,’’ he said when met by reporters here last night.
He was met at the match at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong last night with Casagrande also successfully helping the Mouse Deer squad to win 5-1 over Warrior FC through two goals which were scored in the 15th and 34th minute.
Three more Melaka United goals were scored through Devan Raj in the 27th minute, Milunovic (39th) and Nurshamil Abd Ghani (53rd) while the goal of Warrior FC, the team from Singapore, was netted by Sahil Suhaimi in the 83rd minute.
Commenting further, Zainal said he was satisfied with the action exhibited by the Melaka United defenders headed by experienced players such as Shukor Adan and Razman Roslan.
‘’We believe these stalwarts, who need a little bit of time to boost their performances, will give the best,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, team manager???????, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said he hoped Zainal would use the advantages possessed by Casagrande in the coming matches.
‘’We take him into the team based on his excellent record and destructive touch and reputation as the top goal scorer with the previous team, so we hope the touch will also happen with Melaka United," he said.
Melaka United would leave for Vietnam this evening for three friendlies with the clubs there and would return to face Sarawak on Jan 21 at the Hang Jebat Stadium.
