Last Update: 05/01/2019

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 5 (Bernama) - Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) will improve the attractions at Jalan Gaya Night Market to make them more appealing to visitors and tourists.

Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said among the improvements were the inclusion of cultural performances and buskers (street performers).

He said since the night market, now known as Api-Api Food Market @ Gaya Street, was launched last Dec 2 , it received encouraging response from foreign and domestic tourists.

"Hence, DBKK will make various improvements to attract more visitors, thereby generating more business for traders in the area," he told reporters after visiting the market last night.

Nordin,  who was appointed mayor last Jan 2, said the participation of traders at the night market was also encouraging.

The night market operates from 6 pm to 2 am every Friday and Saturday  with stalls selling food, beverages, local fruits and handicrafts.

Jalam Gaya Street is a major tourist attraction and its recent opening of Tamu, (a daytime open-air market) every Sunday will woo even more visitors.
