Police to intensify efforts to prevent smuggling at Perlis border

Last Update: 28/12/2018

KANGAR, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Police will step up efforts to prevent smuggling of banned substances into the country following the decision of a neighbouring country to legalise the use of ganja for research and medicine.

Perlis police chief SAC Noor Mushar Mohamad said operations would be intensified to combat the smuggling of ketum leaves into the neighbouring country.

“We have been monitoring the border area including launching joint operations with other enforcement agencies to ensure our border area is safe.

The decision of the Thai government means we have to step our smuggling prevention operation at the Malaysia-Thailand border,” Noor Mushar told Bernama today.
