Last Update: 22/12/2018

IPOH, Dec 22  (Bernama) -- A total of 24,469 rubber smallholders who are registered with the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) in Perak will receive RM600 each in monsoon season aid from the government.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the aid would be given to ease the hardship of the smallholders whose livelihood was affected by the monsoon season.

He also lauded the federal government’s move in increasing the ceiling price of scrap rubber to RM2.50 from RM2.20 per kg effective January next year.

“The measures taken by the federal government complements the various initiatives taken by the state government in helping to ease the burden of the people , especially parents in preparing for their children’s  needs for the new school session,” he said in a statement here today.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng announced that the government had allocated RM164,783,400 to provide aid for  274,639 RISDA smallholders , to be paid in two instalments of RM300 at the end of this year and the remaining RM300 early next year.
