Last Update: 19/11/2018

KOTA TINGGI, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Petronas and Pengerang Refining & Petrochemical (PRefChem) gave away schoolbags and uniforms to 550 students from 27 schools around the district at a ceremony in Dewan Bandaran Kejora today.

For the first time as well, 86 orang asli students from the Seletar community benefited from the Jom Naik Sekolah 2019 programme.

PRefChem engineering and manufacturing head, Ahmad Farid Yaacob, said the company has allocated almost RM150,000 for back-to-school preparations.

"We hope it will help the families in managing their expenses," he said in a speech at the event.

“The programme also created a business opportunity for members of the Kejora Traders and Entrepreneurs Association (MyCraft PuPUK) comprising small-scale manufacturers, homemakers and single mothers from the area,” he added.

MyCraft PuPUK has 23 active members who specialise in sewing and fabric craft. "The 1,100 sets of school uniforms given to the students today were produced by 12 of its members who worked together to meet the deadline," he said.
