Man charged with threatening third wife

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- An Information Technology analyst of a property development company claimed trial in the Ampang Magistrate's Court here today to criminal intimidation against his third wife, last month.
Salim Mohamod Shafie, 55, allegedly threatened his 33-year-old wife by sending a WhatsApp message stating that he would pay a loan shark to send acid and a long machete to the victim at a house in Taman Pandan Mewah here at 6.30am on Sept 12.
The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali set bail at RM8,000 in one surety and ordered the accused not to harass the victim and prosecution witnesses.
The case has been set for mention on Nov 15.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim while the accused was unrepresented.
At the same court, a Grab driver Mohd Fawzi Mat Saat, 45, pleaded not guilty to two counts of forging cheques amounting to RM20,000, four years ago.
The father of two was charged with forging two cheques - RM15,000 and RM5,000 – each with the intention of cheating at Emthree Resources 301-c, Wisma PFM, Jalan Perak, Taman Melawati here on September 2014.
The charges, under Section 468 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of seven years and fine.
The court allowed bail of RM8,000 with one surety on all charges and set Nov 2 for mention.
