Three die in boat collision

LIMBANG (Sarawak), Sept 27 (Bernama) – Three people, one of them a Brunei national, were killed after a passenger boat collided with a speedboat in Sungai Simpang Tiga at Kampung Limpaku Pinang today.

Two other people, both Brunei nationals, were badly injured in the collision of the passenger boat from Malaysia and the speedboat from Brunei at about 2 pm, said Limbang Fire and Rescue chief Edmund D. Mahai Amboh.

He said the bodies of the two Malaysians, Awang Syukri Awangku Rizan, seven, and Mohd Nazmi Marali, 21, were retrieved from the river at about 5.30 pm.

All the three Brunei nationals had yet to be identified, he said, adding that the body of the Brunei national and the injured had been taken to Brunei.

Edmund said the passenger boat was carrying six people and the speedboat, 20.
