Last Update: 26/09/2018

SANDAKAN, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,380 recipients in Sabah have received the financial aid of RM600 per month under the Employment Insurance System (SIP) from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) from January to June this year.

State Socso director Dr Mohd Ali Hindia said it involved a total payout of RM835,000.

“The SIP acts as a social security net which aimed at helping workers who lost their jobs to seek financial assistance while looking for new jobs. It was implemented in January this year,” he told reporters after attending a seminar on the organisation here today.

He said it was important for employers to register their employees with Socso.

To date, a total of 52 errant employers had been issued compound fines.
