Three Including Two Foreigners Nabbed For Cheating

IPOH, March 7 (Bernama) -- The police have arrested two Nigerian men and a local woman believed to be involved in a cheating case involving a total RM21,800 in a raid at a condominium unit in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby said the arrest was made after their victim lodged a police report in Bercham, here on Jan 20.

He said the victim was cheated by a woman claiming to be an American named Sandra Wang, whom he knew via Facebook.

"The woman told the victim that she would fly to Singapore on Jan 12, however, on Jan 17, he received a call from a man claiming to be customs officer at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport that the woman had been arrested for bringing in excess cash.

"The victim was asked to put the money into two bank accounts for her release," he said in a statement here today.

The suspects were remanded until Saturday to facilitate in the investigations.

Mohd Ali said there were five similar cases of cheating reported in Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Selangor.
