Yusof Annuar Leaves Axiata To Join Goldman Sachs Investment Bank

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- After five years with the Axiata Group, the first three with TM International Bhd (TMI) prior to the de-merger, the Group Executive Director and Group Chief Financial Officer, Datuk Yusof Annuar Yaacob, is leaving the group at the end of November.

He will be joining Goldman Sachs as Managing Director and Chairman of Goldman Sachs Corporate Finance Malaysia.

Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Axiata, said: "(Datuk) Yusof brought great financial and operational expertise with a deep understanding of the group and its operations.

"Under him, the finance team accomplished a great deal over the past two years. The team is strong and has an excellent record of building value for our shareholders," he said in a statement.

Jamaludin said Yusof was instrumental in the growth of TMI, then a division within Telekom Malaysia before the de-merger, and later in the consolidation of TMI with Celcom during the de-merger.

Prior to his appointment, Yusof said: "My time at Axiata has been an excellent one, and I am very pleased to be leaving the company in such great shape. We've built a world-class finance team, with Axiata emerging out of the economic downturn not only with great momentum, but also with strong discipline and focus on driving shareholder value."

"While we are sad to see Datuk Yusof leaving Axiata, we are proud that one of our own people has been given the prominent role with a premier global investment bank," added Jamaludin.
