MALE, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Maldivian parliament had voted in favour of a government proposal to rejoin the Commonwealth of Nations, Xinhua news agency reported, citing local media reports.
The proposal was put forward to parliament after the cabinet last month approved to rejoin the Commonwealth following a request by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The cabinet stressed the advantages of being a Commonwealth member, particularly noting that it would open up several opportunities to the Maldivian people, especially for the youth.
