WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Dina Powell, a former senior White House official who has been seen as the top candidate to replace outgoing United States (US) Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has withdrawn consideration, US media reported on Thursday citing sources.
Powell, now a Goldman Sachs executive, has informed her company about her decision on Thursday, reported US political media POLITICO, citing a source from the firm.
According to Xinhua news agency, she has also reportedly told US President Donald Trump by phone that she planned to stay on at the company instead of considering the job.
Powell served as Trump's national security deputy adviser before joining Goldman Sachs earlier this year.
Haley, who started serving as the US envoy to the UN in January 2017, announced on Tuesday her plan to step down by year-end, in the presence of Trump, who later told the media that he had already had a five-person short list of candidates to replace Haley.....
