CAIRO, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Arab Ministerial Quartet Committee on Wednesday accused Iran of interfering with Arab internal affairs and urged Tehran to stop backing terrorist militias in some Arab countries as it causes chaos in the region and threatens national security, China's Xinhua news agency reported.
In a statement after a meeting in Cairo, the committee, which is made up of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrian and United Arab Emirates, decried "the provocative statements made by Iranian officials against Arab countries."
It condemned Iran's support for terrorist operations in Arab countries and the launch of ballistic missiles from Yemeni territories towards Saudi Arabia, which is a flagrant violation of resolution No 6216 of the UN Security Council, which bans arming militias.
For decades, syiah Iran has been demonised in the Sunni dominated Arab world, which accuses Tehran of attempting to destabilse Arab states by aiding terror and opposition groups in many Arab countries.
Tehran has repeatedly dismissed the accusations saying that Iran always seek good relations with its Arab neighbours.
