Palestinians Slam Israel Parliament's Bill On Cutting Tax Funding For Detainees

RAMALLAH, March 7 (Bernama) -- Palestinians on Tuesday slammed Israel's Parliament for passing a bill on cutting the tax funding which Israel collects on behalf of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

The bill concerns the money which the PNA pays to the families of the Palestinians killed and to the detainees, China's Xinhua news agency reported quoting sources.

Soon after 52 members of parliament (Knesset) voted in favour of the bill and 10 opposed it, the Palestinian bodies responded by describing the bill as "racist and an illegal measure."

Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) executive committee member Ahmad Majdalani said the bill is is a clear violation of all the signed agreements.

"The Israeli occupation is stealing the money of the Palestinians. Cutting the dues from tax which Israel collects on behalf of the Palestinian National Authority is a violation of the Oslo peace accords.

''The 1995 Paris Economic Treaty and all other interim agreements have become unacceptable and we should get rid of them,'' he said in a statement.....
