EU Warns US Of Tit-for-tat Tax On Levi's Jeans, Bourbon

BRUSSELS, March 6 (Bernama) -- The European Union (EU) on Monday threatened retaliatory action by imposing tax on US iconic products if President Donald Trump impose tax on its steel and aluminium, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

On top of the EU list are Levi's jeans and bourbon which could be hit with a 25 percent import tax. Superbike manufacturer Harley-Davidson would also not be spared, according to the EU.

EU Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmstrom said Washington's measures would have a negative impact on transatlantic relations and global markets.

Levi Strauss & Co, known worldwide for its iconic jeans, said it is strongly against trade barriers.

"We support open markets and free trade where everyone plays by the rules. Unilateral tariff imposition risks retaliation and destabilising the global economy.....
