HULU TERENGGANU, June 20 (Bernama) - The exclusion of two popular sports at 2013 Malaysia Games (Sukma) has not dampened Terengganu's confidence of emerging champions for the fifth time in a row.
State Chairman of Youth, Sports and Human Resource Committee, Rozi Mamat said Terengganu will rely on judo, rowing and muay thai for gold medals to make up for the loss of cycling and canoeing.
"Terengganu are targeting 30 gold medals. This is based on thorough preparation which began soon after 15th Sukma (Kuantan, Pahang) ended last year," he told reporters after presenting the Terengganu flag to Sukma contingent leader Mohamad Kamil Othman here Thursday.
Terengganu will send 348 athletes and officials to participate in 17 of the 20 sports contested at 16th Sukma in Bukit Jalil from June 28 to July 7.
Rozi said the three sports dropped by Terengganu were water polo and synchronised swimming, basketball and table tennis.....
