NSC To Include Muay Thai, Woodball In 2013 SUKMA

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) -- Muay Thai and Woodball will feature in the SUKMA for the first time as the National Sports Council (NSC) has decided to include both sports when hosting this year's edition from June 28 to July 7.

National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong said both sports were included due to good response and participation.

"The NSC normally include sports in the SUKMA based on the progress and development of such sports in terms of participation and number of associations in the country," he said after launching the 100 days countdown for the 2013 SUKMA, at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, here, Wednesday.

Zolkples said the NSC had introduced woodball in the 2011 SUKMA that was held in Kuala Lumpur, but not contested due to lack of participation.

He said among the 20 sports included for the 2013 SUKMA, beach soccer has also been included.....
