KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Podium Programme director Tim Newenham is confident that the Malaysian contingent will be able to finish among the top 10 nations at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia, next month.
The Englishman said the target was achievable based on the various services provided to the national athletes under the programme over the last few years, such as sports science and biomechanics experts, sports psychologists, and also strength and conditioning coaches.
"The Commonwealth Games will be held in less than a month and our target is to put Malaysia among the top 10 nations, and it would be a good result if we manage to achieve the target based on the current performance of our athletes.
"We are confident that the athletes are well-prepared as they had the best preparation that they never had before, besides an exposure to the international training and competition, so that they could step up in the Commonwealth Games," Newenham said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending the closing ceremony of the 2018 Anti-Doping Seminar which was officiated by the Agency Anti-Doping of Malaysia director, Datuk Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz, here, today.....
