KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National Cycling Federation has made an official bid to be one of the hosts of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup for the 2019/20 season.
MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Abdul Wahab said the federation sent in a formal application to UCI, the world governing body for cycling sports, last week.
He said Malaysia was expected to face stiff competition from China.
"I was informed by MNCF vice president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill, who is also a UCI member, that six countries are in the fray and that two of them have secured the rights to be host because they had already signed agreements with UCI. However, Datuk Amarjit did not state which were the two countries.
"So there are still four slots left and I have been made to understand China are also interested. However, UCI only allows one country from each continent to be host," he said at a luncheon with the media here today.....
