Muhammad Afiq Iskandar Wins Gold At Junior Track Cycling Championship

NILAI, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Terengganu team cyclist Muhammad Afiq Iskandar Hasyim won the gold in the Men's U-17 Individual 2km Pursuit event at the CIMB Junior Cycling Track Championships 2018, which entered its second day at the National Velodrom here, today.

Muhammad Afiq emerged champion after clocking in at 2 minutes 27.265 seconds, defeating Johor State Training Centre athlete Muhammad Justin Felix Nagei (2:33.460s) who finished with silver, and the bronze went to Waldron Chee Wen Chun.

Chee, who represented the Sabah cycling team beat Muhammad Radzuan Mohd Radzi from the Perlis cycling team in the third and fourth placing tie, finishing in 2:35.504s.

For Women's U-17 Individual 2km Pursuit event, the Federal Territory's Yeong Zheng Yi captured gold with a time of 2:52.416s, while the silver went to Kedah State Sports Council's Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri (2:55.017s) and bronze to Pahang's Yong Ann Yii (3:08.600s).

Meanwhile, for the Men's U-15 Pursuit event, Ahmad Irfan Abdul Hamid from the Mersing cycling team won the gold, beating his challenger Muhammad Firdaus Surana from the Perlis cycling team, who settled for silver.....
