JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) took full advantage of playing at home against Indonesia's Persija Jakarta, thrashing them 3-0 in the Group H match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin here tonight.
JDT showed their dominance early on, as Jorge Pereyra Diaz had his first shot on goal within 30 seconds of the start of the game, followed by several other attempts by the home team.
All the hard work paid off when Ahmad Hazwan Bakri slotted in a pass from Mohd Azrif Nasrulhaq in the 29th minute to give JDT the 1-0 lead.
Pereyra Diaz then scored the second for the home side after Persija goalkeeper Andritany Ardhiyasa failed to guard his post.
Stung by the two goal deficit in the first half, Persija came out better after the break, and had a golden opportunity to score in the 71st minute, only for Bambang Pamungkas' shot to hit the post.....
