KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017) final medal tally is expected to be announced by the end of this month after the three doping cases are completed.
SEA Games Federation secretary-general (SEAGF) Datuk Low Beng Choo said they were in the process of retrieving the medals from the three athletes before handing them to the next ranked athletes.
The three athletes are Wendy Ng Yan Yee, who won gold medals in individual 3m springboard and 3m synchronised springboard (with Nur Dhabitah Sabri), and two Thai athletes, Nurisan Loseng, the gold medalist in the women's team (pencak silat) and Benjaporn Sriphanomthorn, the silver medalist in the women's open water 10km and 4x200m freestyle.
All three athletes tested positive for sibutramine, a substance banned by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) based in New Delhi, India.
Low, who is also Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM ) secretary-general also confirmed that Wendy's two gold medals would be withdrawn under the SEAGF rules.....
