KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- The Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) hockey team is targeting a top three finish in the 2018 Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) campaign which begins next Friday, despite taking the bold step of a fielding an all-Malaysian team.
TNB chief corporate officer Datuk Roslan Ab Rahman said apart from ensuring the target was reached, TNB's objective was to create more youth players with the potential to represent the national squad in the future.
He said after finishing last season in fourth place, TNB was on the right track towards breaking into the top three with the presence of two national players - Firhan Ashaari and Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abd Jalil.
"I have set the target of at least a podium finish this season. If we can surpass the target by finishing runners-up or as champions, it is a bonus.
"We have no problem of bringing in players from outside. However, besides achieving success, TNB is committed to promote more local talents who will one day become national players. I think that's a bigger objective," he told reporters at the ceremony to introduce the TNB and TNB Thunderbolts hockey teams at the TNB Sports Complex here, today.....
