KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia booked a berth a spot in the semifinals of the Asean Football Federation (AFF Futsal Championship) in style by whipping Laos 13-1 in their Group B match at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand today.
Striker Mohd Ridzwan Bakri was once again the toast of the National squad when he struck a hat trick in the first half to set the Malaysian side on the winning path, thus maintaining his momentum of scoring more than one goal in each match, since he had scored a brace in the dramatic 6-5 win over Indonesia yesterday.
Malaysia set a frantic pace as soon as the match started and were 5-0 up by the 10th minute with goals from Akmarulnizam Idris (1st min), Khairul Effendy Bahrin (2nd min), Ridzwan (7th & 9th min) and Abu Haniffa Hassan (10th min).
Abu Haniffa added to the misery of Laos in the 16th minute before Ridzwan completed his hat trick a minute later to take a 7-0 lead into the break.
Despite the big lead, coach Chiew Chun Yong's boys refused to slow down the pace when the second half started, and added six more goals through Khairul Effendy (23rd min), Azri Rahman (4th min), Syed Aizad Daniel Syed Nasir (29th min), Akmarulnizam (32nd min), Awaluddin Hassan (36th min) and Awalludin Mat Nawi (40th min) before Laos could recover from the early setback.....
