KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The proposal for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to appoint a Technical Director is a move in the right direction, says World number one, Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
Chong Wei said the proposal by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar would ensure the development of badminton (in the country).
"He (Khairy) is always trying to raise the standard of badminton in the country, so, the call to appoint a Technical Director will benefit the development of badminton," he told reporters at the launch of the Salute Malaysia song campaign at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), in Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday.
Local dailies quoted Khairy as saying that the ministry and the BAM were looking for a suitable candidate for the post of Technical Director, including from China.
As for preparations for the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, which starts on Sept 19, Chong Wei said there he needs to strengthen his endurance and mental after losing the final at the BWF Badminton World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark last Sunday.....
