KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Three Malaysian tennis players have been been given 'wild card' entries for the 2014 Malaysian Open.
Syed Mohd Agil Syed Naguib, Mohd Assri Merzuki and Mohd Ashaari Zainal Abidin have been given the green light to play in the singles qualifying event.
The nine-day ATP 250 tournament with a prize purse of US$1,022,255 (RM3.27 million) starts on Sept 20 at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.
"Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) is delighted that our local players will once again have the opportunity to measure their prowess against the world's best," LTAM president Tan Sri Abdul Razak Latiff said in a statement today.
Syed Mohd Agil also has an additional honour of partnering Nick Kyrgios in the doubles main draw as a wild card pairing, at the tournament presented by IMG Overseas (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.....
