BENTONG, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Under-16 squad (Harimau Muda)clinched the 2014 Asia U-16 Champions Trophy after beating PVF Vietnam 5-4 on aggregate at the Frenz Stadium in Janda Baik, here Sunday night.
The squad under former international S. Balachandran, armed with a 2-1 advantage after the first leg in Vietnam, faced stiff challenge from the Vietnamese side today before managing to finish the game in a 3-3 draw.
The Malaysian boys who had won the first leg 2-1 in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, claimed the title 5-4 on aggregate.
The visitors stunned the home team when Ho Minh Di struck in the 11th minute but M. Kogileswaran cancelled the advantage in the 40th minute skipper Muhammad Sharul Akmal Md Adnan made it 2-1 on the stroke of half-time.
PVF Vietnam however, levelled the tie through Nguyen Dinh Bao in the 55th minute but Muhammad Najmuddin Samat restored the lead in the 82nd minute but Bui Tien Dung gave his team a ray of hope by levelling the tie at 3-3, but it the Malaysian boys held on to walk out with a precious draw.....
