Malaysian Contingent Add One Medal Today To Make It Two

NANJING, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The national contingent to the second edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG 2014) started to warm up on the seventh day of the Games in the hunt for medals after winning a silver through diving Saturday.

National youth diver Loh Zhiayi contributed that second medal for Malaysia in the women's individual 10m platform event at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre's Natastarium after amassing the second highest points at 450.65.

The national contingent got their first medal yesterday when Cheam June Wei won gold in the badminton international mixed doubles event, partnering Ng Tsz Yau from Hong Kong.

The pair defeated Tsuneyama Kanta (Japan)/Lee Chia Hsin (Taiwan) in straight sets, 21-14 and 23-21 in the final yesterday.

In the equestrian event today, Mathavan Praveen Nair on his horse "Arkansas" failed to put up a good show, finishing 17th among 27 competitors in the individual jumping event.....
